As Sheriff I will ensure that all rescue personnel are equipped with advanced PPE equipment when responding to and treating patients that are pathogen carriers with medical emergencies.

Broward Sheriff's Office Fire-Rescue services provides fire suppression, fire protection and emergency medical services for unincorporated areas of Broward County, as well as Hallandale, Pembroke Park, West Park, Cooper City, Weston, Dania Beach, Lauderdale Lakes, and Deerfield Beach. With the support of the employees, the department also serves the Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Port Everglades. Fire-rescue also operates countywide hazardous materials (HAZMAT), air rescue, Everglades rescue, and Technical rescue teams.

As your Broward County sheriff, I will:

• Ensure that all rescue personnel are equipped with advanced personal protective equipment (PPE) when responding to and treating patients that are pathogen carriers with medical emergencies.

• Provide advanced training for technical HAZMAT to effectively respond to any hazardous crisis in Broward and surrounding counties.

• Improve and establish agreements with all Broward municipalities for closest unit/first person response within Broward County to ensure that lives are more quickly saved. 

Countywide Air Rescue and Marine Rescue

Due to increasing congested traffic conditions and population growth, BSO Fire-Rescue is a primary life saving entity. BSO Air Rescue must provide the appropriate triage, transport, resuscitation and emergency care services in emergencies. As your sheriff, I will ensure that air rescue is equipped with state-of-the-art technology to provide safe and reliable transport to accident victims in a timely manner in order to save lives.

Marine rescue implementation will be deployed to assist on Broward County beaches, intracoastal waterways and the Everglades for emergencies or catastrophes that may occur. Emergencies occurring on waterways require a rapid rescue response to save lives.
